Privacy

When you send an enquiry we keep your name, contact details and message so we can pass them to the dealer you asked about. We don't sell your details or use them for marketing.

If you set up an alert (new matches for a search, a weekly round-up, or a watch on one car), we keep your email address and what you asked to hear about. We only start sending once you click the link in our confirmation email. Every alert email has a link to unsubscribe in one click and a link to pause or delete all your alerts. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 30 days, and deleting an alert removes it for good.

If you sell your car here, your advert's details, description and photos are checked automatically before it goes up, using Anthropic's Claude, to keep out scams and unsuitable content and to suggest improvements. Anthropic processes them only to do that check. Payments for adverts are taken by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.

We count how often each advert is seen, opened and contacted, so sellers and dealers can see how their adverts are doing. We count this in totals only: no cookies, and we don't record who you are or keep your IP address.

We also count a few steps people take on the site, such as a search that finds nothing, a filter being changed or a question answered in Help me choose, so we can see where the site needs to work better. These are daily totals only: we don't record what you typed, your answers, which page you were on or anything that identifies you, and no cookies are involved. The totals are deleted after 90 days.

If you use Help me choose, your answers stay in your browser and in the page address so you can go back and change them. We use them only to pick cars, and the site doesn't save them.

We use Plausible Analytics to see which pages are visited and where visitors come from. It sets no cookies, collects no personal data and doesn't track you across other sites.

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. If you sign in as a dealer or a seller, we set one cookie to keep you signed in.
